Compaq had acquired Digital Equipment Corporation in 1998. The rollout had to land while two corporate IT estates were being brought together.

Pattern & insight

Workplace change succeeds when users experience continuity, not a technology event.

Deployment volume measures reach. The real measure is whether people kept working, critical services stayed available and the new environment could be supported after rollout. Govern workplace change around continuity, user readiness and service stability, not only deployment milestones.
